Surgeons need more tools for emergent blood clot removal, as many of their current options either require complex setup or result in risky amounts of blood loss. Angio Dynamics came to us with a promising direction complete with a POP that needed our expertise to help provide ergonomic polish.

Their solution, mechanical aspiration, requires a physical pump to capture clot. As each pump removes blood and clot alike, there is a heightened motivation to “make each pump count.” To meet this expectation we developed a large enclosed grip designed for harnessing maximum pump power and stability in one handed use.

When you look at the design it’s seemingly simple, but employs several features to assist with the complexity of holding suction on clot and limiting blood loss. It is a serious tool for serious surgical scenarios. One that is poised to become a first line of defense for emergent blood clot removal.
